DNV-9 Gen.2 advantages :

These light amplifiacation devices use digital CMOS sensors instead of analog tubes.

There are multiple advantages to using digital CMOS:

• Allows static or dynamic work in low light environments
• Prevent saturation and damage to the sensor in the event of a brutal light brightness change
• Allows daylight NVG training without damaging sensors
• Helps with observation and approach movements in urban or semi-urban areas with fixed ligts that are difficult to access (streetlights, windows, vehicle lights)
• Neutralises countermeasures commonly used against analog NVGs such as strobe lights, bright flashlights, light spots and such
• Greatly reduces the system cost compared to analog devices - a big advantage for training organisations or mass deployment
